“Wild Weekly Photo Challenge – Exploration”

I got myself into a predicament a few weeks ago when I spontaneously decided to hike down to the mouth of a river, on a newly cut trail. For several reasons I decided not to return the same way but to explore the area and go back to the road along the riverbank. This turned out to be a very bad idea because at several areas there was no choice but to walk in deep muck past my ankles. The whole hike was a struggle and I would not do it again unless I was prepared for such conditions. On a positive note, I certainly felt like an explorer, like I was at a place no one had been before.  The scenery was very beautiful and there was lots to discover. It was a spiritual experience and will remain in my memory for a long time.

I’m participating in the online adventure travel magazine LetsBeWild.com’s Wild Weekly Photo Challenge for bloggersThis week’s Challenge is: Exploration!

I have to admit....I hate mud! I'm glad it turned out well, and the photo is beautiful!

Carol, My best New Balance sneakers are ruined. I let them dry, brushed the dried mud off the surface and now will ask my daughter what she'd do. I've washed kids sneakers before but just hate to try my good shoes in the washing machine. PEI's mud is red, and has lots of clay. The mud was like quicksand, scary!

Carol, What I read back sounded strange in one aspect. My daughter arrived last night which is why I am asking her about the sneakers only now, after she sees them. She is a laundry expert.
